Week starting 1st June

Friday, 5th June

Good morning 5MMG.  Weekend again ... brilliant!  So, as it's the end of another week of hard work, I'll post a few congratulations up here for all of you who've made a special effort to work online on accelerated reader, reading eggspress and Prodigy maths.  I'm quite sure the rest of you are working away at the booklets we sent home last week - I'm just really sorry that I've no way of seeing what amazing work you are actually doing.  Maybe you could ask an adult to take a photo of some of it and forward it to the info account in school so I can have a wee nosey?  I'd love that.  So, onto the congrats...

Accelerated Reader: superstars for this week are undoubtedly Scarlett, Caoimhe, Emily & Chloe - fantastic effort and work girls. Go girls!!!

Reading Eggspress:

Comprehension: Top performers this week are Isla, Caitlinn & Caoimhe- yay!  Good girls - you're doing so well.

Spellings: Highest scorers this week are: Caoimhe, Aoibheann, Caitlinn & Isla.  Really well done to all of you. Come on lads - don't let them take all the credit.

Prodigy Maths: This week I'm saying a special word of congratulations to everyone who made the effort to try the tasks set online in Prodigy Maths, because you are so good at taking the time to do your work. You know there always has to be someone who outperforms in any activity - sport, art, literature, maths - every aspect of life - and they deserve acknowledgement of that work. So, this week's "top dog" is our very own... ELI... way to go wee man!  The other members of our class that I really want to acknowledge and thank for their work are:  Aoibheann, Aodhann, Caoimhe, Cliodhna, Eilish, Chloe, Maisie, Killian, Emily, Scarlett, Shauna, Katie & Conall.  Thank you so much for all the effort you are putting in... I hope all of this will make life easier for you next year when you eventually get back to school.  Anyway, let's all have a fab weekend and get outside into your gardens and enjoy the wind rushing through you!  Have a good one!

Wednesday, 3rd June

Good morning 5MMG. Not quite so warm this morning is it?
Today I’d like you all to continue working on the water cycle activities in your workbook please. I need to remind everyone again to log on to Reading Eggspress and complete the comprehension and spelling activities I’ve put up there for you.  I’d be really impressed if anyone is feeling very creative and artistic and could create a collage of the water cycle using junk materials you find round the house and send me photos of them.  Have a great day and I’ll chat later. Be good!

Tuesday 2nd May.
Hi everyone- another really lovely day. Can we start today with our morning prayer and thank god for keeping us all safe and well? Perhaps we could spend a few minutes thinking about people we know who are living alone and might be lonely- ask God to take care of them during this time? Have you listened to the beautiful hymn to Our Lady on our RE tab?
Today I’d like you all to start working on the Water Cycle- read the PowerPoints and look up the web links I’ve put in the World Around Us tab. Then you can start to fill in the worksheets in the water booklet. The important vocabulary for this section is: Evaporation, Condensation & Preciptation.  Take your time- there is enough work to keep you going for quite a few days and I hope you enjoy the activities.
Can everyone remember to complete their reading eggspress comprehension and spelling exercises please? Also log on to prodigy maths- this week’s tasks are all based on position fixing and co-ordinates and I remember how much you enjoyed those in school. Also, remember to do your Corbett maths 5-a-day.
A huge round of applause πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» for
Cliodhna πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» for smashing through her accelerated reader target- and her reward for being so successful?? Another target lolπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Emily, you’re almost at your target pet...keep it up!  Keep working everyone and hopefully we’ll see each other soon- ( well to be truthful... I had a lovely wee chat with Aoibhinn yesterday ❀️). Bye for now everyone

Monday, 1st June

Good morning everyone- June!!!!! Where has our year gone? The last month before summer. Today is due to be incredibly warm and sunny, so if you have somewhere shady in the garden to sit, it might be nice to do your work out there. Make sure you cover your skin in sunblock so you don’t get burned.   I was wondering if any of you have tried the virtual sports day and sent your scores in? I hope you do well.
Today would be a good day to start our investigation - I’d like you to measure 2 litres of water and put it in a container without a lid on a sunny windowsill. There is an investigation sheet in your water booklet - we want to find what happens to water when it is left sitting.  Fill in all the sections-including what you think is going to happen. If you could print off or copy the worksheet below it will help you to record the information you’ll need later.  Don’t empty or stir the water at all and we’ll check it next Monday. We’ll continue this work over the next few weeks.  Have a great day.
