www.healthy-kidz.com  AND REGISTER.   (IGNORE THE DATE AS YOU CAN STILL REGISTER)

Hello boys and girls, I hope you are all keeping well. If you have been doing any of the GAA skills we learned in our PE classes, could you send little videos of yourself doing that  to our school email info@stpandstbps.ballycastle.ni.sch.uk

Thank you. I think our class favourites were, making bridges with our body and playing rounders while the rest of the class did lots of jumping, hopping, star jumps, skipping, running on the spot, press ups etc.

Look forward to seeing them.

                            Good Luck

                                       Mrs Byrne

Guidance and Resources for Parents during the School Closure 2020

We have received recent guidance from the ETI (Education and Training Inspectorate) regarding learning at home during the school closure.  (PDF document below) You will see that some of these websites mentioned are already on the list given out for your class and there are some others for you to explore.  The ETI state that “It is also very important that there is a balance between online learning, written and practical activities, outdoor learning and free time.” The teacher guidance given for your child includes written and practical activities as well as outdoor learning and free time.  Many of these activities particularly lend themselves to the home environment, taking the pressure off parents who feel they need to recreate a mini classroom at home – you will be relieved to know, you don’t!

USEFUL WORK FOR PRIMARY 4

FOR PRIMARY 5

Over the next few weeks we will be doing some work about our next topic-Water In Our World. Could you think for a little while and then write down all the things you know about water- what it is, when and where and how we use it? Then write down all the things you’d like to find out about water. I’ll let you know what to do after that.

This booklet and individual worksheets below will help you to do your work on our new topic. I will arrange to have them printed and sent out to you in a few weeks if necessary. However, if you’re able to and want to, you can certainly print them yourselves to use now. They don’t need to be in colour.  The little white icons with PDF written in red are all worksheets that can be printed.  Icons with PPT on them are powerpoint presentations to give you some information before you start each part.  All of the websites below will give you enough information to find out about Water In Our World over the next 8 weeks - there is absolutely no rush to do this work!!!  Spend some time watching the videos and googling anything you find interesting about Water In Our World before you try doing any of the worksheets. If you do the work in the order I have it on the page it should be easy enough to follow.   I hope you enjoy these activities and I've a great one for you at the end - needless to say I'm not telling you yet what it is!

Following a query from a parent I’d like to remind everyone of the importance of your child engaging with the stadium section of Reading Eggspress. It is in this section that there are spelling, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation and comprehension activities which will be automatically adjusted to your child’s ability as they complete each level/ game/ task throughout the stadium.  It is designed to stimulate and engage each child at an appropriate level. If a child is not participating in the stadium section then the computer algorithms have no way of assessing the child’s ability/ performance. The spelling and comprehension tests set each week are merely to continue with classroom practices- not intended as teaching activities.  They are there for the sole purpose of allowing parents/carers to gauge how effectively their child has learned set work. They are not a tool for testing ability.  I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. Thanks

WE HAD A GREAT FAIRTRADE LESSON. WE FOUND OUT ABOUT WHERE DIFFERENT FOODS ARE FROM AND MADE A MESSY MAP. WE STUCK TEA ON KENYA, BANANA SKINS ON ECUADOR, HOT CHOCOLATE IN GHANA, COFFEE ON ETHIOPIA AND COLOMBIA. IT WAS FUN. WE HOPE TO BUY MORE FAIRTRADE IN OUR WEEKLY SHOPPING AS THE PRODUCERS ARE GETTING A FAIR PAY FOR A FAIR PRODUCE.
