Congratulations to our Camogie team who won the Shield at the Cumann na Bunscoil 7-a-side Camogie Tournament in Loughiel today. The girls were a real credit to the school, they showed great sportsmanship and their behaviour was impeccable. They are wonderful role models for our younger pupils. Many thanks to Mrs McNeill who has given up her time over lunch to train the girls and prepare them for the tournament.
All classes from P1-7 showed their true colours this week as they drew their favourite book character.
Staff and pupils alike were very sorry to see Mrs Bayles leave our nursery unit. Over a period of almost four years she has ensured that our children start their learning journey in a safe, comfortable and engaging environment. We wish her well in the future.
Well done to all our children who brought in certificates, medals and trophies to celebrate their successes in a variety of extra-curricular activities including swimming, hurling, judo, Irish Dancing and Music festivals.
Well done to all of you - keep up the hard work!
March ended in a flurry of costumes and characters as children - and teachers - dressed up to celebrate all things book related.
P1 and P2 had a snuggly, cosy evening in school to mark the start of book month. Wearing their best pyjamas and carrying their favourite teddies and blankets they snuggled down in their classrooms and listened to a selection of bedtime stories.
Well done to Mrs McNeill and the pupils from Primary 5 who delivered a really important message today as we launch our new Eat them to Defeat them initiative. Over the next four weeks we will be looking out for our Vegetable of the Week. Every child will get an envelope home on Monday to explain how to participate. The pack includes a chart and stickers for you to participate at home. Once a week, our lunchtime supervisors and canteen staff will also issue stickers to each child who eats the star vegetable.
Congratulations also to our Champion Irish Dancers who participated in the Irish Dancing competition in Ballymena over the midterm break. We are so proud of you all and especially Roma who was awarded top Northern Ireland champion in her age group. What a wonderful achievement! Keep dancing, children.
Congratulations to all the children who gained their Accelerated Reader certificates today. We are delighted to see the children really enjoying reading and quizzing.
Many thanks also to Mrs Kennedy and the children from Primary 6 who delivered a very informative assembly today, reinforcing the messages of how we can all stay safe and look after each other on the internet. The children are really knowledgeable and are very aware of how important it is to be kind and respectful when gaming or sending messages.
